Jerry Levitan is a lawyer, writer, actor, filmmaker, and musician living in Toronto. As a lawyer, he has practiced in the fields of litigation including constitutional and administrative law having been counsel in a number of landmark and precedent-setting cases. He produced the 2008 Academy Award-nominated and Emmy winning film, “I Met The Walrus,” about the day he spent with John Lennon at age 14, winning praise and festival awards from around the world. In 2010, his “I Met The Walrus” was selected as one of the inaugural YouTube/Guggenheim biennial of international videos. He is the author of the Canadian best-selling book, also titled “I Met The Walrus,” published internationally by Harper Collins.
Jerry co-produced and co-directed the animation short, “My Hometown,” a Yoko Ono poem narrated by Yoko Ono, another internationally celebrated film, and more recently has co-produced the acclaimed animations accompanying the release of John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band (The Ultimate Collection). As an actor, he has appeared in film and television including an appearance on “The West Wing.” Under the persona, Sir Jerry, (sir-jerry.com) he has been described as “one of Canada’s most innovative children’s performers” and has produced four children’s cd’s, “Bees,” “Butterflies & Bugs,” “Sir Jerry’s World,” “Sir Jerry Time Machine,” and “Sir Jerry Scared Silly.”
